Transmétallation

The transmetallation is a generic type of reaction in organometallic chemistry which consists of the exchange of two Ligand S between two lic centers Métal. The metal centers are not necessarily the same ones, and the ligands R and R' can be organic or not. The reaction of double displacement is conceptually attached there.

The transmetallation is a big step in the synthesis of many organometallic compounds. Carbenic complex '' NR '' - heterocycles of money are thus easily formed and are sometimes used to transfer the carbenic ligands to other metal complexes with ligands unstable like the Acétonitrile or the 1,5-cyclooctadiene. Thus, for example:

2 L-H+ + Ag2O → L2Ag+… AgX- (X = against-ion of the ligand precursory L-H+)
L-Ag… AgX + PdCl2MeCN2 → PdL2Cl2
This type of reaction also frequently appears in the catalytic cycles many organic reactions like the Réaction of Stille and the Couplage of Negishi.
