Transitional epithelium

The transitional epithelium or urothélium , is a epithelial biological fabric playing a part of slip in some Organe S. It finds in various components of the urinary Système: the chalice S, the small basin S, the Uretère S and the Bladder, indicated in ascending order thickness of their urothélium. The transitional epithelium is a polymorphic pseudostratifié epithelium, with framework épicellulaire and surface condensation of the cytoplasm.

Aspect

These bodies undergo material changes of volume while filling and while being emptied. The aspect of the epithelium thus varies according to the degree of distention of the body.

When it is empty, the epithelium present of many layers. The basal cells are cubic, the intermediate cells are polyhedric and the surface cells, much larger, have one summon round.

When it is full, one finds nothing any more but two layers, a basal layer of small cubic cells, protected by a surface layer from large suitable for paving cells.

This epithelium is thus an epithelium pseudo-laminate : the cells appear to form various layers, but actually they all are in contact with the basal Lame.
