Transept

The transept is a transverse Nef which cuts to right angle the principal Nef of a church and gives him the form symbolic system of a cross.
In the largest buildings, the transept can be flanked the collateral ones.
The transept crossing is the central part, commune with the principal vessel.
Generally, the transept crossing separates the Nef and the chorus.
It can be surmounted by a Turn-lantern.
