A transaction , within the framework of a database, is a series of orders SQL, of type DML ( Data manipulating language ), or DDL ( Data definition language ) framed by an instruction of beginning of transaction BEGIN TRAN, and an instruction of end which can be is Commit, if all the orders were correctly carried out, or Rollback in the case of an error on an order, for example. It is a data-processing particular case of Transaction.

A basic transaction of data can thus gather several requests SQL, that these last are reading or writing orders in the database.

The transactions are valid on the majority of the relational databases or the directed databases object.
