Tramping

The tramping , Anglicism usually used, indicates the Maritime transport with the request, when a Tradind ship is used without fixed route. Transport is thus made in an irregular way, according to the possibilities which arise. The tramping is opposed to transport on “regular line” (or “of line”) where the ports and dates are known in advance.

It is the mode of freighting more running for the Pétrolier S and the majority of the Vraquier S; the Porte-conteneurs are rather chartered on regular lines, while the general-purpose cargo liners are found in the two forms of traffic.
