Tram of Pithiviers with Toury

The tram of Pithiviers to Toury (TPT) is a railway line to Narrow gauge railway of 60 cm broad, characteristic of certain railway networks secondaries French or established in the old colonies.

Opened in 1893 and conceded at the company Decauville which wished to establish the effectiveness of its railroads " portables" , the principal line connected in 32 km the two localities of which it bears the name. Built to facilitate the unloading of beets, this activity will be the raison d'ĂȘtre of the line, while making it possible to carry them to the Sucrerie S located at the ends. One counted approximately 80 km of junctions, length varying according to the seasons.

The line knew a service travellers, by oar tractor drawn then by Autorail Crochat. This service was completed in 1952.

The transport of the goods ceased after the beet season 1965.

On its end, from its proximity of the Paris region and a relatively easy access, the network was very photographed by the amateurs, among whom the founders of the Museum of Transport of Pithiviers were. This taken again museum exploitation of a section of 4 km between Pithiviers and glazing bar of Bellébat, with many materials originating in the network.
