The tram of Clermont-Ferrand comprises a 14,2 km long line, open the November 13rd 2006.

Material

The tram of Clermont-Ferrand uses technology Translohr. The park is composed of 20 oars of color flower of lava . Each oar of the type CO. 4 consists of 4 modules, for a length of 32 Mr. Each oar has a maximum capacity of 238 people.

The choice of a tram on tires and guided by a central rail would have been dictated by the topography of the city. Indeed, the line has present sloping sections (Viaduct of the Carmelite friars, Saint-Jacob viaduct, descent of Margeride).

Course

Only part of the line has was brought into service the November 13rd 2006, of the Champratel stop until the CHU Gabriel Montpied.

The line was open in its totality on August 27th, 2007. The opening of this section allowed the service road of the university campus of Cézeaux and the interconnection with SNCF railway station of Pardieu. The line counts 31 stops today:

The construction of the line has will have cost 290 million euros HT.

Extensions

An extension of 2 km is programmed right now for 2009/2010. It will prolong the line of 2 km in north and will connect the Alders via the Stade Gabriel Montpied.
