The training center of journalists (CFJ) is a French school private in Journalisme.
History
The CFJ was founded the shortly after the Libération, on July 11th, 1946, by resistant French, in particular Philippe Viannay and Jacques Richet. With the passing of years, it diversifies by opening the professional trainings intended to the journalists and for the various trades of the communication. With the CPJ (Center of improvement of the journalists) and the CIM (Information center on the media), the CFJ belongs to group CFPJ (Training center and of improvement of the journalists) created in 1972.Following a financial crisis, in 1998, the school must carry out a reorganization. On the initiative of Claire Richet, Bernard Pivot and Pierre Lescure, former students create association “CFJ-Demain then” to find solutions of financing which will make it possible the school to escape liquidation. Justice grants to him the resumption of the CFPJ in 1999.
In spite of the increase in the registration fees, the situation remains precarious: in 2002, group CFPJ is again in voluntary liquidation. At the conclusion of several hitches, the company is taken again in July 2003 by the group Edition Training Undertaken (EFE), specialized in the formation and the communication.
Formation
The school had to anticipate and adapt to the technical evolutions of the world of the media. In 1984, it created the first formation for journalist to defer images (JRI) and in 2000, the first French formation with multi-media journalism. The registration fee is currently of the order 3.000 euros per annum.
Stock Exchange Julien Prunet
The direction of the Training center of the journalists and the Association of the former students created in 2003 a purse Julien Prunet (graduate journalist of the CFJ and missing in 2002) to allow the people having an “atypical” profile to return directly in the school.
