Traiana aqueduct
The Aqueduct Traiana or Aqueduc of Trajan ( Aqua Traiana ) was built at the time of the reign of Trajan in 109 a. J. - C. and it drew its provisioning from the sources of the Sabatini mounts in the north of the lake Sabatinus (today known under the name of Lac of Bracciano), in the North-West of Rome. It passed by the collar Gianicolo and arrived on Right Bank of the the Tiber almost entirely by undergrounds, skirting the ways Claudia and Triomphale then the Voie Aurelia, on arches. It finished on the Janicule.
The Aqueduc was partly destroyed by Vitigès in 537 at the time of the seat of Rome by the Goths and was repaired by Bélisaire.
New interventions took place during the reign of the Pape Honorius Ier with the VIIe century. It undergoes new damage with the passage of the Lombards and Sarrasins, and was repaired between the VIIIème and IXe century.
Paul V made rebuild the Aqueduc in 1605 over the ancient channels (this rebuilding is known under the name of Aqua Paola ).
