Trade-union confederation of State education

The Trade-union confederation of State education (CSEN) is a gathering of preserving teaching trade unions, formed on January 5th, 1984.

Organization

The CSEN gathers the following trade unions:
  • the National union of the schools (SNE)
  • the National union of the colleges and colleges (SNALC).
  • the National federation of the autonomous labor unions of higher education and research (FNSAESR).
  • the trade union of the Management staff (LIFE)

At the European level, the CSEN is affiliated with the European Confédération of the independent trade unions. During a time, the SNALC was affiliated with the CFE-CGC before taking again its independence.

The CSEN asserted 35.000 members in 2005. With the professional elections of 2005 (CAPN all bodies), the CSEN obtained 5.88% of the votes. It is placed thus in fifth general position (behind the FSU, SE-UNSA and SGEN-CFDT but in front of CUS Education for example). It is the second trade-union organization at the aggregate ones (thanks to the SNALC) and in higher education (FNSAER).
