Trachea

Vertebrate superiors

The trachea is the elastic pipe (fibro-cartilagineux) which, at the Vertébré S, allows at the time of the Inspiration, to lead the Air since the Larynx in the Bronche S. It also allows to make leave the air rich in Carbon dioxide at the time of the Expiration. Zone of conduction in the lower ways arériennes.

At the Man, it is born in the Cou and made following the Larynx. It is prolonged then in the Thorax (between the blades of the former Médiastin), and is divided on the level of the thoracic fifth Vertèbre into two bronchi stocks left and right-hand side (its division names the Hull). It is approximately 12 cm long for a diameter of 2 cm.

The trachea consists of 16 to 20 cartilagineux rings. It is in form of " iron with cheval" , whose posterior wall is muscular (fabric fibro-rubber band which makes it possible to make penetrate in the trachea an endotracheal tube or catheter). The cervical trachea and the thoracic trachea form with the Bronche S stocks right-hand side and left the bronchial Arbre.

Constitute, with the Oesophage, the axis oeso-trachéal which forms the former limit of the posterior Médiastin

Arthropods

At the Insect S, in fact rigid pipes transport the air since the atmosphere to the internal bodies. The tracheas ramify gradually in fine cylinders: trachéoles.
