Tracadie-Sheila a Canadian City of the county of Gloucester, in the North-East of the New Brunswick. Its population in 2001 was established with 4.624 inhabitants. She was born, on January 1st 1992, of the fusion of the town of Tracadie and the village of Sheila and the annexation of certain not-organized territories bordering.

Situation
Located in the acadian Peninsula, the city is bordered by two rivers, that is to say Large Tracadie which constitutes the Southern border of the municipality and Small Tracadie which separates North from the city of the Downtown area.It is necessary moreover mention that the city is most of the time called simply Tracadie by the local population.
The city is bordered in the east by the Baie of Tracadie and the latter is separated from the Golfe the St. Lawrence by a Dune.

The configuration of the relief of the area creates two catchment areas: the Small-Tracadie River and the Large-Tracadie . The Smallone runs with north and the Largeone in the south. The Largeone flows in the Golfe of the St. Lawrence by the narrow part Large-Tracadie while the Small-Tracadie master key by the Baie of Tracadie before flowing in the gulf by the Tracadie narrow part.Many other rivers traverse the city. The brook White Elder tree and Israel as well as the river with Comeau flow in the Largeone. The McLaughlin brook, Arthur Losier and of Vital flow as for them in bay of Tracadie. Finally, the ruisserau Odilon flows in the Smallone.

Tracadie
The name Tracadie derives from a word in micmaque language , Telagadik , meaning place of camping. Indeed, the intrigues used the current site of Tracadie during their forwardings of hunting and fishing. The name undergoes different changes with the wire from time: Tregate (1604), Tregatay (1632), Tracadille (1794) and Tracady (1845) to become current Tracadie in 1851. The presence of priest F.X. LaFrance and the French-speaking majority of the population seems to be at the origin of this final transformation.
Sheila
Sheila was called formerly Ferguson' S Point. At the end of the 19th century, Mr. Foster, manager of a Sawmill, intervened with the ministry for the stations to make change the name of the city into Sheila, in the honor of his daughter. The request was accepted and the changed name.

The inhabitants are mainly Acadiens. More than 97% of the inhabitants of the city French for native tongue has.
