Trélazé

Trélazé is a common French, located in the department of Maine-et-Loire and the area Pays of the Loire.

Geography

History

Coup d'etat of December 2nd, 1851 orchestrated by Louis-Napoleon Bonaparte puts a term at the republican and democratic reforms. A company secretes name of Marianne is fixed for objective to reverse the mode and to restore a democratic republic and social. In Anjou, the secret society recruits among the tow makers and the ardoisiers.
Le August 26th, 1855, of the hundreds of workmen of the salte quarries of Trélazé revolt. The riot bursts in the evening of August 26th with Saint-Barthelemy-in Anjou. The carriers plunder the gendarmerie to seize the weapons. They penetrate then in the suburbs of Angers by singing the Marseillaise by challenge against Napoleon III and the Second Empire. The movement becomes extensive during the night and in the small hour, more than 600 men with, at their head, François Attibert, a workman of career mariannist, walk on Angers. Prevented, the police force awaits them with the weapons. The insurrection turns short. There will be no victim, but one will proceed to hundreds of arrests. The persons in charge Jean-Marie Secrétain, Joseph Pasquier and François Attibert are off-set with Cayenne.

In June 1856, the Loire in rising caused ruptures of the lifting upstream to the commune of Trélazé invading the valley of Authion. Water flowed then on the commune of Trélazé submerging the careers of the Salte quarries, provoqaunt the death of a half-dozen of workmen as well as the stop of the site during several months. Following this catastrophe, the Emperor Napoleon III went on the site for " to carry comfort to the sinistrés" and tried to restore its image tarnished by repression with the movement of Marianne. The Head of State engaged on this occasion to make build a lifting protecting from now on the commune from the floods. This one exists always and called " Napoléon" way;.
