The Toyota Tercel is a Automobile created by Toyota starting from 1987.

Tercel 4WD (or 4X4)

The truck appeared in 1982 and the station-wagon the following year. The production of the station-wagon stopped into 88. Tercel was in fact the equivalent of the Toyota Corolla. The version crossed of Tercel was not renewed with this model. The engine also is an evolution of that of the truck. It is one 4 cylinders whose cubic capacity passed from 1300 cm ³ to 1500 cm ³. The number of code of the engine is 3A. It develops 70 ch. The truck being a simple 5-speed gearbox traction, the station-wagon is in fact a traction which one can pass in 4 driving wheels via a small lever of first shaft located beside the gear shift lever. In 4WD mode the sixth speed is accessible. It is in fact extra first short (called extra low ) making it possible to climb the strong slopes, to cross the mud pits or the guets and to roll in sand. Because the second vocation of this vehicle is to make whole ground (the expression any way being too weak). Although having a ground clearance weak, it is able to pass to place where it would not be even suspected. Thanks to its reduced weight, only 1050 kg very full make, its first extra short and its absence of central differential in position 4WD, it is possible to pass to places where a Land Rover 90 TD do not pass (equipped however with mixed tires, Tercel being out of tires road). The mud pits occur without problem, the car is not inserted and passes easily where a Land Rover heavier remains embourbé. Car is rather well equipped for its time because it had already roof sliding electric series (except on the Swiss market where some models did not have any), an informing indicator that a door is badly closed (one did not even find it series on all the range Laguna I), a 5-speed gearbox and even 6 if one considers under first + a step back, a function recycling of the air, a Compte-tours, an electronic clock with liquid crystals, a choke car,…. In 1983, few cars had all that.
