Toxotes chatareus

Toxotes chatareus is also called fish-archer . He saw in the Mangrove S of the South-East Asia . He has the capacity to send a jet of water to 50 cm above surface. This is allowed not the formation of a tube formed on the one hand by a furrow cut in the palate and on the other hand with the edge of the language. The water contained in this tube is ejected when the animal closes its hearing. The force of the jet believes with the size of the preys concerned (various insect S, Araignée S, Lézard S…). Each jet is always ten times more powerful than necessary to dislodge the prey, which leaves a good safety margin. Moreover, Toxotes chatareus is able to carry out some 30 height cm jumps to seize its victim.
