The Toxicodendron succedaneum (= Rhus succedanea L.) is a small tree of the family of the Anacardiacée S originating in Asia.

Use

The latex of this tree is used to produce the Laque. Its splendid foliage of autumn bright red in made an ornamental tree, but this use is now prohibited in several countries because of the severe cutaneous allergic reaction which causes the contact of the skin with very part of this plant at certain people. In India, one also uses it for his medicinal properties. The fruit with acid flesh would be edible, but prudence is of rigor because of the general toxicity of the plant.
