The towns of Finland , in Finnish kaupunki , are an old administrative statute of 113 municipalities of Finland, in Finnish kunta . Although it does not reflect any more any distinction between the municipalities since the reform of 1977, the term is still used and the distinction remains important for Finnish.

The size of the commune is not a single criterion. Thus, Kaskinen, the smallest city of Finland, counts less: 1500 inhabitants but Nurmijärvi is not a city in spite of its: 38000 inhabitants. In practice, the communes of suburbs of the principal cities, which knew a recent urbanization, are often excluded from the list. Contrary, large emptied rural boroughs their inhabitants by the Rural migration preserved the statute of city.
