The town hall of Toronto , Ontario, Canada is one of the most distinctive monuments of the city. It is the fruit of the one of the more big competitions of architecture ever organized by a city. The made up international jury for the occasion must consider 520 projects coming from 42 countries. In 1958, the mayor of Toronto, Nathan Philips, announces the prize winner of the contest: it is about Viljo Revell, an architect Finnish based with Helsinki. Work starts in 1961 and the official unveiling takes place later four years, the September 13rd 1965.

Festivals

The town hall east one of the principal host center of various festivals and events in Toronto. There the great celebration of New Year's Day is held each year including/understanding of the fireworks, gleaming and singing various bands of music.

One of the other principal festivals in Toronto is the annual cavalcade of the whole of lights which is held of at the end of November until the end of December. Inside Toronto the town hall is accessible to the public at the day open Toronto doors.
