Monaco
The Principality of Monaco consists of a single commune, the city and the State being confused. The town council is composed of a Mayor and 14 advisers, whose mandate lasts four years. The elections are done by the vote for all with scutin of list plurinominal to 2 turns.

The town council is a political authority which applies to the common . In certain cantons it is the executive body while in others it is the legislative body .
Canton of the Were worth
Name given to the communal executive. According to the size of the commune it can be also called municipal council. It is directed by the president.
Canton of Freiburg
Name given to the communal executive. It counts 5 permanent members downtown of Freiburg and 5 to 9 nonpermanent in the other communes. There are 5 members in the communes of less than 600 inhabitants, seven in that from 600 to 1000 and nine in those of more than 1000 inhabitants. It is directed by the syndic.
Canton of Neuchâtel
Name given to the communal executive, it is in general composed of 5 members (except for Corcelles-Cormondrèche who counts 7 members). The executive is elected in theory by the legislature (General advice). However, the law on the political rights provides that the communes can also make elect their executive by the people with the poll majority or proportional. It is directed by the president of the Town council, often also called President of commune.
Canton of Vaud
Name given to the communal elected legislative assembly. It is made of 40 to 100 members according to the size and the number of inhabitants of the commune. Its principal tasks are the acceptance of the budget and the control of the management of the commune. The legislative elections take place every 5 years according to the Constitution of Vaud of the April 14th 2003. It is chaired by the president of the Town council.
Canton of Geneva
In Geneva, one distinguishes the municipal council (legislative) from the administrative counsel (executive). There is no town council.
