Toward the Within

Toward the Within is the title of the single official album live (disc and video) recorded by the group Dead Can Dance. The disc left the October 24th 1994 under the number catalog DAD4015 at 4AD.

LISA Gerrard and Brendan Perry always interpreted many new songs at the time of their rounds. This recording in concert testifies some well, since among the 15 titles which it contains (16 titles on the DVD), 4 only were already published on albums former studios ( Cantara , Song off the Sybil , Yulunga , The Wind that Shakes the Barley ).

Among the other songs, some will be included in 1995 on the first album solo of LISA Gerrard, The Mirror Pool . It is about Persian Love Song , Tristan , Sanvean and Gloridean (the 16th title available only on the DVD)

The songs of Brendan Perry I Edge See Now and American Dream give a light first impression of the style more bluesy that Perry will off adopt for his album solo Eye the Hunter , in 1999.

Toward the Within was recorded in a catch in November 1993 with the Mayfair Theater with Santa Monica (California), little time before the building is not damaged by an earthquake (and demolished). The video one was filmed per Mark Magidson and contains discussions with LISA Gerrard and Brendan Perry, just as a video clip of " Yulunga (Spirit Dance) " , constituted of extracts of the film Luck, on which Magidson before worked besides.

The video was included completely in the DVD no-claims bonus of the retrospective box 1981-1998 , left in 2002.
