Tourtoirac
Tourtoirac is a common French, located in the department of the the Dordogne and the area Aquitaine.
Its inhabitants is the Tourtoiracois .
Geography
The commune is crossed by the Auvézère, affluent of Isle Left bank. It is located in the north-eastern part of the Département of the Dordogne in the sector known as of the “green Périgord” (administratively attached to Périgord Noir). Located at 35 kilometers of Périgueux, 8 kilometers of Hautefort, 13 kilometers of Excideuil and 7 kilometers of the Temple-Laguyon, the village is crossed by the secondary road 5 (D5) which connects Hautefort to Périgueux.The borough (agglomeration) was built in the valley, in edge of Auvézère, near the Fountain of Claûtre (the cloister). In close periphery, on the hills and cliffs, concentrate some Hameaux: Rocks, Saint-Hilaire, Ourteix, Hawks. Exceptionally, during strong precipitations or violent one storms, the borough is flooded in its low part. The risings of the river then cut circulation on D5 or make it difficult.

Environment
The climate is of degraded style oceanic with semi-continental tendency being given the influence of the Causses. The winters are cold and the hot summers with relatively important precipitations throughout the year.
The vegetation is composed of many wood and Forêt S of Feuillu S more rarely of conifers, the calcareous and rocky basement typical of Causses not lending itself to it. One also finds many meadows and pastures or the breeding of the bovines is very widespread. The fields are also provided many walnut-plantations whose fruit, celebrates it nut of Périgord collects in October. Certain sectors also are very provided in chestnut groves even if the sweet chestnut harvest seems less important than for nut.
The sector of Tourtoirac counts also many small vines of local producers. The fruit trees most widespread are: apple trees, plum trees, fig trees and hazel trees. More ignored, the sector lends itself also perfectly to the culture of kiwi or the grenade. In a wild state, in certain wood, open out mulberry trees and some elder trees. Lastly, the underwoods are favourable with the growth of mushrooms, particularly, the boletus as well as truffle oaks.

- Orllie-Antoine Ier (Antoine de Tounens, 1825 - 1878), first king d' Araucanie; deceased and buried in Tourtoirac.
- Achilles Ier (Achilles Laviarde, 1841 - 1902), second king d' Araucanie; buried with Rheims, he was exhumed the September 15th 1976 to rest in Tourtoirac.
