Tournament of Houston

The Open of Houston (Texas, the United States) is a tournament of Tennis Professionnel male (ATP Tour) and female (WTA Tour).

The female test was held of 1970 with 1995, on ground beaten starting from 1985. The first edition, on September 23rd, 1970, marks the beginnings of the very new circuit '' Virginia Slims '', exclusively female and autonomous, prémice of WTA Tour.

With six titles (including four consecutive of 1976 with 1979), Martina Navrátilová holds the record of the number of victories into simple.

Based with Houston since 2002, the male test ( US Men' S Clay Short Championships ) was successively held with Indianapolis (1969-87), Charleston (1988-89), Kiawah Island (1990), Charlotte (1991-93), Birmingham (1994), Pinehurst (1995-96) and Orlando (1997-2000).
