Tourist office

the tourist office , unlike the tourist office, is an organization whose institutive mission is " the promotion of the Tourism " on the territory of the community which institutes them in accordance with the provisions of the L.133-1 articles in L133-10 of the Code of Tourism.

Its creation is subordinated to a deliberation of the Municipal council for a commune or deliberative authority for a grouping of communes. The same deliberation fixes the Legal status and determines its methods of organization.

Organization

With the difference of the tourist office exclusively associative, the tourist office can cover any statute today since it was chosen by the commune or the grouping of communes which institutes it.

The tourist offices can request a classification of 1* with 4* according to the services which they are able to return as well to the visitors as to the tourist people receiving benefits.

Missions

The missions of a tourist bureau are defined under L133-3 article of the Code of tourism

the tourist office ensures the reception and the information of the tourists as well as the tourist promotion of the commune or the grouping of communes, of coordination with the Departmental committee of tourism and the Regional committee of tourism.
It contributes to coordinate the interventions of the various partners of the local tourist development.
It can be charged, by the authority which created it, of whole or part of the development and the implementation of the local policy of tourism

and of the local programs of tourist development, in particular in the fields of the development of the tourist services, the exploitation tourist installations and leisures, studies, animation of the leisures, organization of festivals and cultural events.

It can be authorized to market tourist performances of service in the general interest.
It can be consulted on projects of utility services tourist.
the tourist office submits his annual financial reporting to the municipal council.

Office of tourism vs office of the tourism

In the French-speaking countries name is tourist office . In pure right, name " du" was used to define what concerns the public domain (public administration), which distinguished, in the Law of 1964, the tourist bureaus (of public law) of the tourist offices (of private law); today, the law of August 13rd put an end to the double name.
