Each association of companions has its specificities as regards formation. It is mainly of the formation " in alternance" at a very thorough employer-companion, and courses the evening, in the places of life of companions.
The Companions of the duty have their own CFA.
There exists in Mouchard (the Jura) a Institut European of Training of the Companions (for the trades of the building), which ensures the first phase of formation (CAPE, BEP, VAT pro), with a statute of Vocational school under contract with the State. The young people are thus " dégrossis" , within a school framework, before leaving on the Tour de France.
In Germany, only the Charpentier S preserved the tradition of the " turn of the pays" ( Wanderschaft ) carried out in the respect of the habits, i.e. with foot and covered traditional costume of the Corporation out of black velvet with legs of elephant (a long time before the fashion!), large hat and stick.
