The 46e Tour de France took place of the June 25th to the July 18th 1959 out of 22 stages for 4.355 km.
General information
- It is the last turn of two old winners, Louison Bobet, which gives up at the time of the 20th stage, in the descent of the Col of Iseran, and of Jean Robic, which is eliminated to be arrived out of the deadlines at Châlon-sur-saône, term of the 20th stage. It is the first turn of Roger Rivière, incorporated by Marcel Bidot in a team of France in four heads (Anquetil, Rivière, Bobet, Géminiani). The four leaders do not mean themselves… if is not to make lose regional the Henry Anglade which was in position, in the Alps, of détrôner the yellow jersey Federico Bahamontes.
