General information

  • It acts of the Tour de France longest of the history (5 745 km) and the average slower.
  • For the first time, the departure does not take place in the capital, but in province with Evian.
  • Lucien Buysse carries out a crossing of the the Pyrenees of high flight which enables him to gain without problems its first Tour de France. It points in eighth position at 22 minutes of Van Slembrouck before the dantesque stage between Bayonne and Luchon. After a 17 hours stage, 12 minutes and 4 seconds, Buysse is leader with more than 36 minutes in advance on the second of general classification. At the time of the following stage, between Luchon and Perpignan, Buysse still widens the gap by counting more than one hour in advance on the second.
  • the Alcyon team lets spin the victory, but place three of its runners in the five first of final general classification.
  • Average of the winner: 24,063 km/h.
