The 19th Tour de France is held of the June 21st with the July 19th 1925 out of 18 stages for 5.430 km.

General information

  • Ottavio Bottechia decides to concentrate its season on this test and achieved its goal by gaining rather easily the 19th Tour de France. It becomes the 4th runner to gain a Tour second after Small-Breton Lucien, Firmin Lambot and Philippe Thys.
  • the difference is done in the mountain, where Nicolas Frantz, the principal outsider, cannot follow Bottechia. It will be caught up with by gaining 4 stages all the same.
  • No French finishes in the 10 first for the first time.
  • Henri Desgrange sets up the system of teams and declares: “each team of 12 runners constitutes an entity whose men will be able between helping in order to present itself in greater possible number on arrival, or to save the mark that they represent”.
  • Average of the winner: 24,820 km/h.
