Tour de France 1923
|} The 17th Tour de France is held of the June 24th with the July 22nd 1923 out of 15 stages for 5.386 km.
General information
- the departure of the Turn takes place to the Luna Park; the final arrival is judged with the Parc of the Princes.
- 139 leaving is divided into three “categories”: 32 in first category, 24 in second and 83 tourist-truck drivers. Eugene Dhers is best classified among the coueurs of second category and Camille Botte is best tourist-truck drivers.
- Henri Pélissier is the first French winner since 1911. It gains the Tour de France thanks to its domination in the Alps.
- Jean Alavoine, although dominator in the Pyrenees, is constrained with the abandonment at the time of the fifth stage, following a fall.
- Ottavio Bottechia becomes first Italian to carry the yellow jersey.
- For the first time, the change of parts is authorized.
- Average of the winner: 24,428 km/h.
