Touquin

Touquin is a common French, located in the department of Seine-et-Marne and the area Île-de-France.

Its inhabitants is called the Touquinois .

Geography

This commune is located at the east of the capital at a distance from a ciquantaine of kilometers of the ring road. One reaches it by the highway A 4, left n°13 in direction Provins The Yerres, affluent of the the Seine takes its source close to here in north and crosses the commune.

History

The name of this village means " Reserve of wood between clearings. Touquet in the Department of the Pas-de-Calais in the same beginning. The first documents on Touquin go up with 1107. At that time the territory belongs to the Prior of that-in-Brie. Touquin was until in 1285 located in a " go séparante". Castle, ruined by the One hundred Year old war and demolished in 1775 it remains only the park and an old woman tower, old mill with vent.
Since the reign of Louis XII in 1504 on October 14th of each year a very important fair took place. A market rose in the middle of the village. It was given up and dismounted in 1887
Touquin was a stronghold protesting in XVIè century. On the blazon of the commune a dove refers to the Protestant period.

The church is under the term of Saint Etienne. Inside one can see an armchair of Empire time, classified Monuments Historiques.
In a mounting a relic is preserved: a humérus of holy Restitute. One makes a worship particular to this holy in the commune of Arcy-Holy-Restores in the Département of Aisne. According to the legend it would have made there spout out a fountain and ressuscity a dead child.
