Toulounides

The Toulounides (banū ṭūlūn rear min Al-ʿabbāsyyīn RTL بنوطولونمنقبلالعباسيين) constitute the first dynasty of emir S independent in the Moslem Egypt become : they controlled 868 with 905.

At the 9th century, the central capacity of the Caliph S Abbassides is the object of internal quarrels to the favor of which centrifugal tendencies appear in the empire: in 868, the officer of Turkish origin Ahmad ibn Touloun sent Baghdad as governor of Egypt behaves there soon as independent monarch de facto. In 878, it occupied even the Palestine and the Syria to establish there defensive steps against a possible attack of the Abbasid caliph.

However, the dynasty was to remain a long time, its successors appearing able than the founder. Under his/her son Khumârawayh (884 - 895) of too expensive work and the luxurious way of life of the court bloodless finances of the country made. After the murder of Khumârawayh, the capacity sank in the intrigues of palate and declined in an accelerated way: the Abbasid troops took again the control of Egypt as of 905.
