Toucy
Toucy is a common French, located in the department of the Yonne and the area Burgundy.
Toucy is the fatherland of Pierre Larousse.
Its inhabitants is called the Toucycois . Puisaye, soil to which Toucy is attached, has its named inhabitants the Poyaudins .
Geography
Located at 25 kilometers in the south-west of Auxerre, one of the principal communes of the Puisaye, scrap-metal country.
History
TOUTIACUS at the time Gallo-Roman E (in 250, course of Caïus Amatius Paterninus, found with Direction, deposited with the Museum of Louvre). From its geographical position, the city was disputed a long time between Royaume of France and Duché of Burgundy. For proof, the strengthened church which resembles one more small strong Château than with a church. Built at the 16th century while being pressed on ramparts of the 11th century. Completely destroyed by Anglo-Bouguignons in 1423. Going on Orleans, Jeanne d' Arc passed in 1429 there.
