Touchdown

A touchdown (or touched with the Canada) is the essential method to mark points with the American football and the Canadian Football. A touchdown is registered when one of the teams manages to cross the line of unfavourable in-goal with the balloon or to take delivery of it in the zone delimited beyond this line (“ end zone ” in English).
The touchdown can thus be carried out:

  • with the race, it is enough whereas the balloon, carried, passes the line.
  • with the master key, it is necessary that the receiver takes delivery of the balloon in the zone of in-goal with 1 or 2 feet on the ground according to the championnat.
A touchdown (TD) brings back six points and gives right is with botter a Transformation (“ extra point ” in English) which brings back a point, that is to say with a Conversion which, if it is successful, brings back two points.

  • longer touchdown in NFL: 108 Yards of race by Soothsayer Hester (Chicago Bears) on November 13rd, 2005 and Nathan Vasher (Chicago Bears) on November 12th, 2006. The ground measuring only 100 yards, it should be noted that one and the other left their own zone of in-goal.
