Toshiie Maeda
Toshiie Maeda (); January 15th, 1539 - April 27th, 1599) born at the village of Arako to the Japan, was one of the principal generals of Nobunaga Oda at the end of the time Sengoku. His/her father was Toshimasa Maeda. He was 4th of 7 brothers. Child, one called it Inuchiyo (犬千代) but it was more known under the name of Yari No Mataza (槍の又左), Mataza being its common noun. Its preferred weapon was a Yari. Its higher title was Dainagon.
Biography
Childhood
Born in the province from Owari, it served Nobunaga Oda during its childhood and its fidelity was rewarded while being left only with the head for the Clan Maeda (benefitting from the military failures from his/her three brothers. Like Nobunaga, Toshiie was also very eccentric and was usually equipped in an exotic model with Kabuki-mono. Hideyoshi Hashiba was called " Saru (猴) " (Monkey) and he even " Inu (犬) " (dog) by Nobunaga, because of a belief saying that the dogs and the monkeys cannot support themselves. Indeed Toshiie be severe and right contrary to Hideyoshi, which was easy to him to live and comic.
Military life
Toshiie to begin its military career as a captain of infantry (足軽大将) within the army of Nobunaga Oda and knew a fast social rise. It fought at the time of the Bataille of Hokuriku for Katsuie Shibata. Under the orders of Nobunaga Oda, it had its hour of glory during the Bataille of Nagashino in 1575 and accepted in reward the province of Kanazawa and became thus Daimyo. After the defeat of Nobunaga Oda vis-a-vis Mitsuhide Akechi, Toshiie fought Katsuie Shibata under the command of Hideyoshi Hashiba.
Family
The wife of Toshiie, Maeda Matsu, was also responsible for the rise to power of the Clan Maeda. After the death of Toshiie it ensured the safety of the clan after the year 1600. It went even until going hostage to the castle of new the Shogun, Ieyasu Tokugawa, which it hated all its life.
