Toshihiko Sahashi
Toshihiko Sahashi (佐橋俊彦, Sahashi Toshihiko ), born the November 12th 1959 with Tokyo, is a Compositeur Japan extremely prolific board. It left graduate the University of Beautiful arts and Music of Tokyo in 1986, and was made known as a type-setter of film musics and especially of Anime S, in particular for the musics of Hunter X Hunter , of Full Metal Panic grass and of Gundam Seed . It is also at the origin of two symphonic continuations, exploited by the London Symphonic Orchestra, this last animates and its continuation, Gundam Seed Destiny . One even knows very few things on the character in him; no discussion with him not having been realized, almost no information on him not having filtered out its work.
Its compositions are of an opulent and symphonic kind with relents of neo-classic music, even neo-baroque, compositions moreover often characterized by effective rhythmic ostinatos (in abundance in Gundam Seed Destiny OST IV and Simoun OST I ). All that makes it possible to the type-setter to reveal his perfect comprehension of the old and modern Western music, where a Joe Hisaishi will remain often blocked at the time of a Rimski-Korsakov . The point negative of that, obvious, lies in the report of commonplaces like the last titles of Gundam Seed Destiny OST IV with respect to Dvorak for example: Toshihiko Sahashi approaches thus Brahms .
One of its other fundamental features is its constant use, in each one of its sound tracks, keyboards - to which some will adhere, pleading of a consequent rise emotional, while others will find these dashes pseudo-romantic sirupeux even insipid.
The type-setter however does not hesitate to proceed to hybridizations, following the example Iwasaki Taku , in the field of what one could qualify as being a Japanese music school strongly influenced by the film musics American, in particular those of MediaVentures ( Hans Zimmer , Harry Gregson-Williams ). Black Blood Brothers OST is in this direction an example as regards massive concretions of varied styles. In scores like those of Full Metal Panic grass , Toshihiko Sahashi makes us display of his control of many musical genres, delivering parts going of the reggae to the hard rock, while passing by the blues, which is not without pointing out type-setters known such as Yoko Kanno or Kenji Kawai .
A point at the very least intriguing in works of the stakhanovist of the music of cartoons concerns the sound in itself. That comes from a seizing detail: the stamps of cords and trombones perfectly identical in all its productions since 2002 are included, which leaves suspect the use of an orchestral synthesis in the majority of its recent creations. This point is only hypothetical, but however very probable. Moreover, that would justify perfect interpretations and the frantic rate of production since 2002 - without apparent obstacle with the recording.
