Tortola
Tortola (Spanish turtle-dove) is an island of the British Virgin Islands. She was discovered by Christophe Colomb at the time of its second voyage in 1493. The British Virgin Islands were forsaken by Spanish who preferred the richer regions and became thus the ideal reference mark of the former pirates.
Volcanic, the south of the island is mountainous and the Wise Mount which culminates to 521 m is more arid.
Road Town, located on the island, is the capital of the British Virgin Islands.
