Torsten Frings began its sporting career as of the six years age with the Belch-Weiß Alsdorf and starting from 1988 with Rhenania Alsdorf .

Of 1990 with December 1996, Frings played with Aachen. It is transferred in January 1997 to the Werder from Bremen, where it is assembled at the national level.

Of 2002 with 2004, Torsten Frings is under contract with the Borussia Dortmund. It passes to the Bayern of Munich during season 2004/2005, club where it can carry out large things, and in particular this year doubled the cut - championship. It reached an international level there, and polishes its style of play there.

However, it again changes team into 2005, and joined for the second time Bremen. Indeed, Frings had denounced the mentality of the Bavarian club, but also the operation of the club at this time.

Its international career began the February 27th 2001 vis-a-vis France with Paris, match lost 1-0. it then took part in the World cup 2002, where it was considered better player of its team. In July 2003, a wound with the cross ligaments draws aside it from the grounds during 6 months, and thus of the eliminating heats of the Euro 2004 deprives it, but it is restored and marks a goal into three matches with the Portugal. It also marks a superb goal at the time of the victory of the Germany vis-a-vis the Costa Rica at the time of the match of opening of the World cup of 2006. During this World cup, its suspension for the semi-final against Italy following a brawl which has occurred after the quarterfinal against Argentina was the object of a sharp polemic. After visionnage of the images, the disciplinary committee of the FIFA determined that Frings had struck Julio Cruz whereas Cruz even denied to him to be attacked by the German player. The advertisement of the suspension moreover intervened the semi-final day before. The controversy is due to the fact that the Italian media largely accentuated the role of Frings in the brawl after the FIFA announced to inquire into German players. Frings answered the charges " It is of the policy. The Argentinian ones attacked us, I defended myself and the Italians assembled that out of pin. With this suspension, the FIFA wanted to show that Germany did not receive any preferential treatment as country hôte".

It counts 70 matches with the national team, and registered 10 goals.

Torsten Frings is a particularly general-purpose player. Before its transfer to Werder Bremen, he played station of attacker.
