Torrelobatón

Torrelobatón is a locality of the Province of Valladolid, Castille-and-León, Spain. It is located in the Comarque Montes Torozos.

History

Old of iron and Roman epoch

The history of Torrelobatón probably begins with the Age from iron, with the foundation of a colony in a named zone El Pago de Grimata. Several historians affirm that centuries later, on the territory of Torrelobatón a named Roman city Amallóbriga was founded.

War of the Communities of Castille

After the defeat of the Comunero S with the battle of Tordesillas, Juan de Padilla wished to obtain a fast triumph to go up moral troops and movement entire comunero. At this point in time was made the decision to take Torrelobatón and its castle. February 21st, 1521 begins the assault and four days later the comuneros manage to enter the city and are devoted to a plundering from which only the churches will escape. The castle continued to resist but vis-a-vis the threat hanging all the inhabitants if it did not go, its occupants transfer themselves obliged to capitulate, after having negotiated the conservation of half of the goods which the castle contained.

Torrelobatón was the last place by which the comuneros passed before their departure for Toro, the morning of April 23rd, 1521, but the imperial army joined them on the level of Villalar, giving place to the battles of the same name, which ended in the victory of Charles Quint.
