History

2006 : the Toronto FC becomes the 13th team of the Major League Soccer. Its name and its logo were officially revealed on May 11th. The club is the property of Maple Leafs Sports & Entertainment , which also has the Toronto Maple Leafs (LNH) and the Toronto Raptors (NBA). The team will evolve/move with bmo Field, a stage of 20.000 places. Work was finished in 2007, date on which the Toronto FC one makes their beginnings in the North-American championship.

on August 25th, 2006, the Scottish Mo Johnston is named at the post of trainer.

on April 7th, 2007, the Toronto FC played its first official match in the Major League Soccer and it was a defeat by the mark of 2-0 against C.D. Chivas the USA.

on April 28th, 2007, the Toronto FC played its first home match and it was a defeat by the mark of 1-0 against the Kansas City Wizards.

on May 12th, 2007, Danny Dichio registered the first goal of the history of the club. And the Toronto FC gained its 1st match of the season (victory 3-1 against Chicago).

The medium ground Jim Brennan was the first player recruited by Toronto. Originating in Ontario, Brennan had evolved/moved the former seasons within various English teams. Its arrival with the club was announced on September 8th, 2006.
November 17th took place the fishing out of expansion ( expansion draft ) which made it possible the TFC to call upon 10 players resulting from the other trainings of Major League Soccer. However, several of them in the following weeks yielded or were exchanged to other teams.
Other players were then recruited, either coming from the North-American leagues (MLS and USL), or coming from Europe.
