Tornado and Storm Research Organization

The Tornado and Storm Research Organization (TORRO) was created by Terence Meaden in 1974. Initially called the Tornado Research Organization , its name was modified in 1982 after the integration of the Thunderstorm Census Organization (TCO) after the death of its founder Morris Bower and his wife.

TORRO includes/understands approximately 400 members with the the United Kingdom and others in foreign countries, amateurs with the professional meteorologist, and a team of approximately 30 people. TORRO maintains to a broad network of observant volunteers through the British Isles and collects and records data on the very bad situations weather.

The organization undertakes research on various aspects of the serious weather disturbances whose Foudre swell of it, the blizzards and the strong snowfalls, the storms of Grêle, the impacts of Foudre, the Tornade S, the Orage S, the disasters related to the weather and the correlations between climate and health.

The tornadoes in the United Kingdom are classified by using the scale of TORRO ( TORRO Scale or T Scale ). It also developed a scale of intensity of the storms of hail.
