Torgau is a Ville on bank of the Elba in the North-West of the Saxony, Germany which became famous in the whole world at the end of the Second world war for the following reason: April 25th, 1945, the American army, coming from the west, and the troops of the Soviet Union, coming from the east, met there.

sights

The sights include the center of the historical city, reconstituted after the German Réunification, a museum of brewery, the monument for the meeting of the Russian and American troops at the edge of Elba and the Russian military cemetery. The castle of Hartenfels of the Rebirth dominates the city. The vault was created in 1544 by Nickel Gromann. It is Martin Luther which inaugurated it on October 5th, 1544. Today still, one keeps brown bears in the ditch of the castle.
