Torborg Nedreaas

Torborg Nedreaas (born on November 13rd, 1906 with Bergen, dead on June 30th, 1987) was a Norwegian écrivaine.

It began its career with the publication of a series of short stories entitled Bak skapet står øksen in 1945. The majority of these stories are centered on the Second world war. It is not however about Littérature of war, but of the examination of situations create by the war for people who were not implied there, but which paid of it the full price because of the occupation of the country.

Until 1947, she lived with Lerivik, in the Hordaland, before moving with Nesodden, in the Akershus. She taught the music, but wrote a series of news, parts, novels and scenarios for television. Many of its books are held in Leirvik, where it passed most of its childhood. The differences in class and poverty are central themes which cross all its work.

Its work was recognized by the many ones taken, of which prestigious Norwegian Prix of criticism (Kritikerprisen). In 1972, it was even named for the Price of literature of the Scandinavian Council.
