Torahs

Thoras is a common French, located in the department of the Haute-Loire and the area Auvergne.

Geography

Located in the mounts of Margeride, the commune of Torahs is in zone of medium mountains.

The relief is an alternation of hollow and bumps. In the west the mountain of Gardille closes the commune which opens in the east on the valley of the Panic grass. The too acid granitic ground authorizes only one agriculture of breeding of the extensive type.

The climate is semi-mountain dweller: rigorous, cold and increasingly dry winter. The hot summers know sometimes high temperature variations.

The vegetation especially consists of coniferous tree, a primary forest of pines relatively low with which hêtraies mix, and plantations of spruces on the zones highest. The granitic, acid ground is covered with moors on the zones of altitude (+1300m) the escarpés slopes of the valleys are colonized by brooms or grass with pasture.

The flat bottom of the valleys leave the place to the meadows with fodder. The commune is drained by the brook the Panic grass -18km- which takes its source with 1350m not far upstream from Montclos (N.O of the commune) and leaves the communal territory downstream from Babonnès to join the ANCE of the South with the Roman (common of Growths). It sprinkles the villages of Fageolette, Montrezon, Cheylot and Babonnès. It receives on its Right Bank water of Crouzet de Thoras downstream from Cheylot and of Donaldès with Babonnès. The villages are hung for the majority with headlands. The common one counts 17 hamlets.

The compartmental one is parcelled out. Only in the flat content of the valleys, the pieces are not delimited by low walls.

The commune of Torahs, rather difficult of access, is served by D585 (Brioude N102- Chateauneuf de Randon N88) of North in the South and D34 of Is in West (in direction of Saint Paul Cold). It counts 35 km of asphalt roads
