Topola , in Serb Cyrillic Топола, is a city and a municipality of Serbia located in the district of Šumadija. Topola is with 80km in the South of Belgrade and with 42km of Kragujevac. In 2002, the city counted 5.422 inhabitants and the municipality of which it is center 22.192.

The name of Topola means “the poplar”.

It is in this city that Karageorges was selected as chief of the First Serb revolt against the Turks in 1804.
