Top of Early
Perched with 800 meters of altitude on the northern slope of the valley of the Moselotte, the Top of Early the is the highest village of the department of the the Vosges. It does not constitute however a common , having been divided arbitrarily by a North-South line between Vagney and Sapois.
In spite of administrative separation, the inhabitants were interdependent at the point to build themselves a church in 1832. The parish was officialized in 1838.
In 1944, the village was the theater of violent one engagements aiming at releasing Gérardmer. After the war, the effort of the inhabitants was centered on the tourist development, but the community underwent the impact of the closing of the school in 1990.
