Tony Shafrazi
Tony Shafrazi is a American galerist of origin Iran ienne.
In 1974, it is made known by a blow of glare. In order to protest against the Massacre of My Lai, it paints with the bomb the words “Kill Lies All” on famous the Guernica of Pablo Picasso, then preserved since 1939 at the MoMA of New York. The table was protected by varnished and painting thus could be removed without damage.
Thereafter, Shafrazi became a merchant of respected art. Its gallery with SoHo accompanied the beginnings by Associated Artists with the graffiti such as Keith Haring (of which it organizes the first exposure in 1982) and Kenny Scharf. It also exposed Herve and Richard Di Rosa, in 1984, and the Frères Ripoulin, a collective of French artists, in 1985.
Its gallery moved thereafter with Chelsea.
