Tony Iommi
Frank Anthony " Tony" Iommi (born the February 19th 1948) is a Guitariste born with Birmingham in England, famous to have been one of the founding members of the group Black Sabbath.
Biography
Tony Iommi presents a single course: it failed to pass beside its career of Guitariste being young, because he divided the end of two of his fingers of the right hand (as he is left-handed, he acts with the hand which is used to him to press on the cords), grabbed by a press when he worked with the factory.Whereas he thought of being last beside his career of guitarist, a friend makes him listen to a disc of Django Reinhardt (a guitarist which had lost two fingers). This gives again hope with Tony, who will try to take again his career of guitarist. He will start by trying to play only with two fingers but he will give up this " quickly; technique" to start again to play with all its fingers. Nevertheless, the exercise proves to be painful because it does not have any more flesh at the end of its two divided fingers; its skin thus weakened is quickly wounded by the cords. One night, it dissolves the plastic of a flexible bottle and works a ball which it will work with sandpaper to obtain an end in the shape of die to be sewn. While sticking leather above, it will provide to re-use its two mutilated fingers and to play of the guitar almost like front. Because (or grace) to these prostheses house, it will develop a style of play and a single sound.
Moreover, it goes to equip its guitars with cords extremely flexible (of the cords of banjo while waiting for that the flexible cords exist for the guitar), and to play a half your low (to slacken the tension of the cords) so as not to be handicapped by the plastic dice which he places on his fingers, which will give to the sound Black Sabbath a particular color which will influence many groups of heavy metal. Let us note that Tony Iommy will make a passage of a few months within Jethro Tull at the end of 1968/at the beginning of 1969 between the first album and the second album of this group. The film of Rolling Stones The Rock'n'roll Circus, testifies to this passage (almost) unperceived before the arrival of Martin Barre which will remain like the appointed guitarist of Jethro Tull.
Beside its career with Black Sabbath, it also published 3 albums solos, in collaboration in particular with Glenn Hughes.
One can note a collaboration with Dave Grohl (ex nirvana) on the title goodbye spangle in the original soundtrack of Blair witch 2
Material
Toni Iommy uses an Electric guitar Gibson SG as well as amplifiers Laney. Gibson carried out a model " to him; signature" a few years ago, which one can see here, in reward of its fidelity to the mark.
