Tony Award

The Tony Awards (of which the complete name is Antoinette Perry Award ), created in 1947, constitute most important annual Récompense for the Théâtre (including the musical comedies) with the the United States. One often regards this reward as the Homolog, for the Dramatic art, of the Oscars to the Cinéma.

Allotted by a Jury of about 700 people resulting from various trades of industry and press of the spectacle, the reward was based by American Theater Wing on the proposal of a committee of the producers of theater.

Since 1967, the ceremony is retransmise on a national television channel, and includes songs extracted the musical comedies named, as well as visual clips on the named plays. American Wing Theater and League off American Theaters and Producers present and manage jointly the rewards. The TV rating of the remote transmissions is generally well below those of other ceremonies of rewards, but the program touches an easy public, snuffed advertisers.
