Tonicity in psychomotricity
In psychomotricity
Tonicity is a key concept in Psychomotricité, as well as space, time, the rate/rhythm…
Definition
state of tension permanante of the muscles: active, involuntary, variable tension in its intensity, according to the various syncinetic actions or reflexes which reinforces it or inhibits it. (Vulpian)
Various tonicities
Several types of tonicity are indexed.
-
basic tonicity is a degree of muscular contraction always present at the vertebrate one. This tonicity is the starting point of all the activities, whether they is static or cynetic. It informs the Psychomotricien neurological maturation of the patient.
- the tonicity of action is a degree of tension of a muscle called to take part directly or indirectly in a motor activity.
- postural tonicity is the degree of tension of the former and posterior muscles antigravitaires. They allow the sitted stations overall and upright…
Pathologies of tonicity
Parmis pathologies of tonicity, one finds the Syncinésie S: involuntary movements which are carried out in part of the body at the time when take place, in another part of the body, of the automatic movements or reflexes. Ex: opening of the hands at the same time as the opening of the mouth.
The syncinésies disappear more or less with maturation neurological. They are thus known as " normales" until a certain age.
There exists of course much of other pathologies related to tonicity.
Tonicity and emotion
Walloon and Of Ajuriaguerra established the concept of tonico-emotional dialog. Present primarily at the baby, the tonico-emotional dialog is replaced by the language as soon as this one is possible.
