Tomorrow Never Knows
Tomorrow Never Knows is the last Chanson of the album of the Beatles Revolver .
Artistic analysis
Written by John Lennon, this song is the first like the share of Beatles: by the particular rate/rhythm of the battery, by the fact that she is played only on one agreement (Do), by the many unusual sounds which one did not find in the parts of the other albums, and by the solo of Guitare reversed.
It includes sound loops prepared by Paul McCartney, and the recording of this title was held like true a happening , eight or nine sound engineers actuating as much of Magnétophone S to send the loops to the request towards the Table of mixing. The sound effect whirling of the Leslie Speaker of an organ Hammond was in addition diverted so that the voice of John Lennon sounds like that of the “Dalai Lama singing top of a mountain” , such as the Compositeur had required it.
The rhythmic one of the song was taken again as guiding line (sample) by the British group of Electronic music The Chemical Brothers in their song Setting Sun (in which the voice is that of No5el Gallagher, singer of the group Oasis), on the album Dig Your Own Hole (1997).
On compilation '' Love '' Beatles, in 2006, the voice of George Harrison singing his title Whithin you/without you is mélée with rhythmic of Tomorrow Never Knows .
Analyzes technical
The title, sung by John Lennon, uses in its instrumental part of the effects of opposition of phase between the two tracks, and thus seems to be created specifically for the stereo. However, this version posed problem for the version mono: because of this opposition of phase, part of instrumental disappeared if one were satisfied to play the superposition of the two tracks. George Martin thus supervised the development of the version mono.
It is necessary to remember the context of 1966: the vast majority of the record player S was still monophonic, the stereophonic discs could not be read without damage on monophonic platinums, nor the reverse (the universal engraving will spread a little later), and the Radios European FM were still all monophonic.
Potential legal repercussion
Not legal interesting: Strictly speaking , to have the right Usage on the version stereo of this particular title does not give any right to play the version mono, since this one constitutes a work derived being the object from distinct rights. It goes from there differently on other works where the mono sound results simply from the sum of the two channels stereophonies. On the other hand, it goes without saying the right of use of a mono version does not authorize the use of the stereo version.
