A tombolo is a Offshore bar connecting one two terrestrial extents, like a island or a small island at the coast of a continent or of another island. The sedimentary deposit (generally sandy) is generally caused by the Réfraction of the train of waves due to the island: this one protects the zone located between it and the other terrestrial extent, causing the deposit of sand at the place where the waves meet.
